Our Story
The Cornerstone of San Diego Angling
The San Diego Rod and Reel Club has stood as the anchor of the local fishing community for more than four decades — a gathering place for everyone from weekend bay fishers to seasoned offshore veterans.
What began as a small circle of passionate anglers has grown into Southern California’s most respected non-profit fishing organization. We are funded entirely by our members and donors, allowing every dollar to flow back into the community we love.
Our greatest pride is the “We Take Kids Fishing” initiative — a charitable mission at the heart of everything we do. Through this program, we introduce the next generation of anglers to the wonder of San Diego’s waters.

Monthly meetings feature expert guest speakers covering everything from rigging technique to reading offshore conditions and targeting pelagics.
Conservation
We fish responsibly. Catch-and-release programs, beach cleanups, and active stewardship of San Diego Bay and its fisheries are core to who we are.
Competition
From the Big Fish Tournament to the Bass, Yellowtail, and Dorado events — our tournaments offer cash prizes, trophies, and hard-earned bragging rights.
Family
Kids are always welcome. Family BBQs, junior angler programs, and a warm, inclusive atmosphere mean everyone finds a place at our club.
